MSc in Space Sciences and Astronomy

The Master of Space Sciences and Astronomy reflects the Bernese heritage in space exploration and empowers students with skills and knowledge to join this adventure. The program brings together people passionate about science with a variety of expertise and backgrounds, ranging from physics and astronomy to geology and geophysics, as well as climatology, chemistry and biology. We offer students an in-depth scientific education in space research, planetary sciences, habitability and astronomy in an interdisciplinary fashion.

Credits: Mono, 120 ECTS (30 ECTS Compulsory Courses, 30 ECTS Elective Courses, 60 ECTS Master's Thesis)

Requirements:

a) Bachelor's degree from a Swiss university

  • comprising at least 30 ECTS credits in Physics and/or Astronomy and
  • at least 50 ECTS credits in a branch of studies in the natural sciences or engineering sciences

b) Bachelor's degree from a recognized foreign university with an equivalent qualification*

 

* Admission requirements of up to 60 ECTS, which must be fulfilled in order to complete the Master's degree program, may be required. These courses, usually at Bachelor level, are primarily conducted in German.
