CHEOPS Science Team Meeting #29

The CHEOPS Science Team Meeting will be held by CSH, the Center of Space and Habitability, University of Bern, from 13th November to 15th November 2023. A zoom link will be available for the virtual participants to connect. 

The CHEOPS Science Team Meeing #29 will take place in:

This youtube video gives you a guideline how to reach the main building of the University of Bern, which is not far from the venue building, from the Bern main train station.

Lunch: 

Tables for the daily lunch has been reserved for you between 13:00 to 14:00 at:

Lunch menu and a big variaty of sald and warm food buffet are at your choice and expenses.

The following hotels are recommended for you to stay in Bern. They are either walking distance or have good connection of public transport to the venue. A number of hotel rooms have been blocked for the occation of the CHEOPS STM. Please contact the hotels for room booking and please be reminded that only a limited number of rooms are availabe at the special uni price.

Please note that the rooms at the special prices are only availabe until 30 days prior to the meeting. We encourage you to book the rooms as soon as your travel plan is confirmed. 

Hotel La Pergola can be also one of your hotel choices. However, we are not able to block some rooms at a special price. Please contact them directly if either of the above hotels is fully booked. 

Bern, while being the captial of Switzerland, isn’t well connected by plane. The best way to reach Bern, depending on where you are departed, is either to fly to one of the airports, Zurich, Geneva and Basel and then take a train to Bern; Or it is even more practical and ecological to take the train.

By air + train

You can fly to Zurich, Geneva or Basel then take a connecting train to Bern (main station). Many airlines offer direct flights to one of the airports. From Zurich airport, there are trains with direct connections that will reach you in 1 hour 30 minutes, which depart every 30 minutes. It takes same time from Basel airport. From Geneva airport, the distance is slightly longer and a direct train would just take a little more than 2 hours. By train

The Swiss rail network is very well connected and easy to use. It is sometimes not a bad idea to consider taking the train directly to Bern from where you live in one of the European countries. To search your train connection, please visit the website of your national railway company or www.sbb.ch or download the SBB app on your smart phones.
