Bern, while being the captial of Switzerland, isn’t well connected by plane. The best way to reach Bern, depending on where you are departed, is either to fly to one of the airports, Zurich, Geneva and Basel and then take a train to Bern; Or it is even more practical and ecological to take the train.
By air + train
You can fly to Zurich, Geneva or Basel then take a connecting train to Bern (main station). Many airlines offer direct flights to one of the airports. From Zurich airport, there are trains with direct connections that will reach you in 1 hour 30 minutes, which depart every 30 minutes. It takes same time from Basel airport. From Geneva airport, the distance is slightly longer and a direct train would just take a little more than 2 hours.
