The Center for Space and Habitability (CSH) of the University of Bern, the Centre for the Origin and Prevalence of Life (COPL) of the ETH Zürich, and the Life in the Universe Centre (LUC/CVU) of the University of Geneva organise the first 'Swiss Habitability and Origin of Life' days, on 19.03.2024 and 20.03.2024 in Bern. The goal of this two-days meeting is for the researchers of the three centers, and more generally Switzerland, to meet and discuss their research in the domain of habitability and origin of life. We expect similar meetings to be organised yearly each spring, with the aim to build a Swiss community in the field of habitability and origin of life.
Registration is now open! Please register and submit abstract until the 20/02/2024. Selected speakers and poster presenters will be informed by early March.
The meeting will start Tuesday 19/03/24 at 10am and will end 20/03/24 by a round table to discuss future projects from 4pm until 5pm. It will be organized in five scientific sessions:
Session 1: Cradle for life: astrochemistry, planet origin, habitability
Session 2: The early history of the Earth (climate, geology, plate tectonic)
Session 3 - Possible origins of life (first forms of life, chemistry and bio-geo-chemistry point of view)
Session 4 - Earth/Life co-evolution and bio-markers
Session 5 - Detection of Life
Participation is limited to 70 people
